BioThe Zakat Foundation in an international charity whose mission is to bridge the gap between those who are financially privileged and those who are struggling. The word zakat is Arabic and indicates charity given out of the blessings or wealth one has accumulated. Charity is one of the five pillars of Islam, and Muslims believe that ultimately everything belongs to God and that He expects us to share what He has entrusted to us. ZF ministers to people of all faiths, and the public is invited to share in ZF’s ministry of providing hope and help to people in desperate situations all over the world. Established in 2001, ZF operates according to strict standards of efficiency and accountability as it provides food, shelter, health care, emergency relief, and life-skills education and training.
